Transportation & Parking

Public Transportation

Coming from San Jose (weekend total $54):

Take the Highway 17 Express from Diridon Station to the Santa Cruz Metro Station. $7 per ride (cash only).

From the Santa Cruz Metro Station (weekend total $12):

Take any bus numbered 10-20; they all go to the UCSC campus — though numbers 10, 15, and 16 take a faster route. Each ride is $2 (cash only). Exit the Rachel Carson College & Porter stop. Walk towards the stop sign intersection, and keep walking down the path through the trees and down the stairs. Go straight when the paths intersect, and continue up the hill. Go across the parking lot. The DARC is a grey building labeled "Digital Arts Research Center." (See map below.)

Parking

For anyone driving up to campus and not familiar with parking here, be aware of parking signs. Parking enforcement gives $50 tickets out like they're candy, and we've had sad jammers in the past.

We'd recommend either:

  • West Remote lot — Free on weekends and after 5 on weekdays (perfect times for GGJ!). A pretty, but not super accessible-friendly walk to the DARC building.
  • Performing Arts Lot, the one right next to the venue — $4/day (cash and cards accepted). Be sure to park in numbered spaces, and pay at the machine.
  • One of the Rachel Carson College parking lots — Free on weekends and after 8:30pm on weekdays. Also has pay stations. Closer than West Remote.
